    About this item

An early Victorian, copper, half gallon harvest measure of squat form. This his made from a very heavy gauge of copper, has castellated seams and a hollow handle. There is an assay mark inside the rim, stamped “V R” to either side of a crown, above "239 L.C.C.”  The front of the jug is stamped with the measure “HALF GALLON” and on the rim beneath this it is engraved “1/2 Gall".

    English. Date c.1840

Condition: Substantial denting to the hollow handle and minor denting to the bulbous section of the jug. The tinning, to the interior, is quite worn so it is no longer usable but it would make an excellent jug for flowers as it is still water tight.

    Dimensions: Height 19cm Diameter 19.5cm Width 28cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £35. Most of Western Europe add £10.
