About this item
This fluted milk jug or creamer is by John Rose Coalport and is decorated with a simple repeating pattern painted in puce and purple and connected with gilt ribbons. It is further highlighted with gilding to the rim, foot, handle and the top of the flutes. There are twenty ogee flutes, writhing from left to right and the piece stands 110mm high (4.25 inches) to the top of the handle. It is unmarked but corresponds to a jug shown in Plate 226 of Berthoud's 'A Cabinet of British Creamers'. There is a tiny chip just under the lip, some very slight rubbing of the gilding to the rim, and a very faint dusting of kiln grit to the top of the handle and to the lip.
