About this item
This large cup and saucer is decorated with a hand coloured transfer print entitled "The Farmer's Arms". This poem or song could date back to the 16th century and is known by a variety of names such as "The Farmer's Toast", "Success to the Farmer', "Jolly Farmer" and "God speed the plough". The cup has a diameter of 121 mm (4.75 inches) and stands 95 mm (3.75 inches) high. The saucer's diameter is 195 mm (7.75 inches) and it stands 35 mm (1.25 inches) high. Both pieces are in very good condition but with some faint crazing. The maker was William Adams & Sons and it would date from around 1915.
