Gorgeous Pink Banjara Cushion

One of my favourites! This large and long cushion is made from a vintage textile from the Banjara nomadic group in Northern India. The textile comprises several layers of cotton quilted together with thick decorative stiches in a herringbone pattern. The colour of the cotton quilting has been changed at intervals to give the top burgundy material a stripy appearance. I have backed the textile with a vintage handwoven textile from East China which is a muted bluey violet colour with burgundy stripes. The colours are natural and they work beautifully together. The backing fabric was woven on a very narrow loom so I have joined 3 pieces to get the desired width. There is a zip fastener and feather pad.
