    About this item

A rather macabre but beautiful cast bronze desk paperweight in the form of a dead bird, probably a sparrow. The bird is mounted on a black  plinth. The bird is well cast and very detailed with good patina to the bronze. It was most likely made in France in the mid to late 19th century. It is in the style of pieces by Paul Comolera, a contributor to the Animalier school of sculpture.
