About this item
Victorian Aesthetic Movement
Toothbrush Box or Razor Holder
Transfer printed with a Japanese inspired floral print
Ridgways Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent
Staffordshire, England
Circa 1880
Measures: 18.5 cm long x 7.5 cm wide x 7.5 high
The transfer print with anemone and convolvulus flowers, hand-painted with orange and ochre highlights, an impressed band of chevron patterning towards the foot. Marked beneath "Ridgways" with the bow and quiver mark.
A super and highly practical antique which offers a rather beautiful, neat and eminently practical solution to what to do in a period bathroom with toothbrush heads and razors.
It is increasingly hard to find attractive examples of these items which retain their original lids.
