About this item
A charming ink stand, dating to approximately the 1920s/30s. It features two cold-painted wire-haired terriers standing on either side of a well head. It is difficult to know what metal the figures are made of, but I would guess spelter. The dogs and the well have been beautifully handpainted. The well has a hinged lid which opens to reveal a glass ink well liner. The base is made of pink marble and has a groove for a pen-rest carved into the front.
In good original condition with minor chipping to the marble and some wear to the paintwork.
