A vintage mid-century ashtray made for the exclusive Coral Beach Club Bermuda. The legendary Coral Beach Club (known formally as "Coral Beach & Tennis Club" (or affectionately as "CBC")), was founded in 1948 on the south shore of Paget Parish, Bermuda, as a traditional colonial-style private members' country club.
This ashtray here was manufactured in the famous Duruta majolica potteries in Italy. The centre is decorated with scrolling foliage and with the club's logo of the Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialisis), a native of Bermuda. The outer rim with sgraffito "CORAL - BEACH - CLUB - BERMUDA"
Good vintage condition. Some general craquelure to the glaze.
