Georgian gilt Seal with “Forget Me Not” intaglio 1780

This seal has a base carved with an intaglio and was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.

I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.

The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal

This small gilt metal seal has a round base set with a foil backed brown glass stone engraved with a flower and the words “forget me not”

The seal has an ornately carved base and handle and is topped with a suspension loop.

The seal measures 23mm x 18mm and is in 85% mint condition –the shank is in lovely condition but the stone is cracked – still makes a good impression though
