About this item
This seal has a base carved with an intaglio and was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal
This gilt metal seal has square shield base set with a white glass stone and engraved with the intaglio of a sun warming a flower and the words “So I to thee”
The seal has an ornately carved base and handle topped with a suspension loop.
The seal measures 31mm x 18mm x 16mm and is in 80% mint condition – the stone has faded paint behind the glass, which was used to create more of a visual contrast when worn but this visual appearance has not effected the seal in terms if usage and the seal still gives a perfect wax impression. There are also traces of metal coming through the gilding
