About this item
A late 19th century letter opener, sold as a souvenir of the Château de Fontainebleau near Paris. It is carved out of fruitwood and has a scimitar shaped blade. The handle terminates with the carved head of a bulldog. He has an appealing face with inset glass eyes, and a carved collar extending down from his neck.
