Henry Dasson is one of the most recognized cabinetmakers and bronzers of the 19th century.
Trained as a watchmaker, he turned more to bronze representations. He made a large number of copies of royal furniture and 18th century works of art. Preferred style of Louis XV or Louis XVI, he adorned them with the most beautiful bronzes of the time with the mercury technique, very beautiful marquetry and lacquer panels; a work highly appreciated by the world bourgeoisie of the time.
In 1871, he bought Charles Winckelsen's workshop (a famous Parisian cabinetmaker of the time). His notoriety only grew for decades and he was rewarded at numerous exhibitions. In 1878 he received his first gold medal, in 1882 a second and was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor. Finally, in 1889, he received a famous prize from the members of the jury, during the Universal Exhibition, for the prodigious realisation of a table all in bronze in the Louis XVI style. He ceased his activity in 1894, only two years before his death.
A marvellous example of the finest quality boasting first class design and craftsmanship by the leading French cabinetmaker
