    A fabulous Edwardian mahogany desk attributed to Edward and Roberts, richly patinated, line inlaid and with exquisite marquetry detail throughout depicting Neoclassical motifs comprising of cherubs, flowerheads, scrolling foliate and a pair of tazza's brimming with fruit.  The moulded upper section with three quarter pierced brass gallery above a mirrored section flanked with a pair of concave, sloping drawers with decorative brass swan neck pulls.  The moulded desk fitted with green tooled leather writing skiver surface raised over frieze fitted with two cockbeaded drawers with brass swan neck pulls flanked with fluted detail to the corners.  Supported on elegant ring turned legs with ionic capital detail conjoined with curved stretcher, terminating on brass casters.

    Edward & Roberts

    Edward and Roberts were founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London.  By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century.  They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist.  Edward and Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
