This is an antique pedestal desk. An English, oak and leather writing table, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880.
An attractive single pedestal desk offering fine colour and craftsmanship
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select oak shows fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Newly laid, quality leather skiver with triple embossed and tooled finish
Arranged as a suite of four plus one drawers beneath the generous top surface
A low back rest acts as a header to the tactile, eye-catching writing surface
Accentuated with attractive gold tooling, the skiver of generous size
Document slide nestled between the first and second drawer adds further versatility
Each drawer dressed with brass drop handles upon shaped backplates
Inset locks to each drawer - untested, keys absent
Engraved to each lock for Hobbs & Co, the Anglo-American furniture specialist
Rides upon four castors, two concealed beneath the pedestal and a pair adorn the turned legs
