    About this item

A beautiful Victorian antique ebonized walnut and amboyna writing desk. The antique writing desk has a central stationary compartment with inkwells, flanked by twin cupboards surmounted with solid brass galleries. The cupboard doors have decorative Sevres style oval porcelain plaques, and both open to reveal neat single shelf interiors. The Victorian writing desk has two concealed drawers to the front and is raised on four decoratively turned tapering legs with cross stretcher supports. Wonderful grain and detailing throughout.
    Item Ref; M-S007
    .
    DIMENSIONS:
    Height – 120.5cm / Width – 101.5cm / Depth – 63cm / Surface Height - 73cm
    .
    CONDITION REPORT:
In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks and scratches to the surface top and top of cupboards (pictured), also splitting to the ebonized walnut in places. There are minor losses to the walnut beading (pictured), and an honest repair to the stretcher, however this doesn’t affect the overall integrity of the product. There are also age-related stains to the interiors (pictured). The keys for the cupboards are door pulls, the cupboards are not lockable. The antique writing desk remains structurally solid and sound. Overall, a rather impressive Victorian desk.
