    A good quality Victorian burr walnut davenport. Often referred to as a Harlequin, Jack in the box, or Rise and Fall Davenport. The piano top fall lifts to reveal 2 burr walnut veneered drawers and a pull out and adjustable writing slope which retains the original gold tooled green leather writing surface. To the side is space for an ink well and pen tray. The right hand side drawer has a catch which when released allows the secret stationary compartment to rise on a weighted counterbalance . The top lifts over to reveal a three quarter raised gallery with a shaped boxwood stationary compartment. To the right side are 4 mahogany lined drawers with original turned knobs , brass locks and escutcheons with opposing dummy drawers . The base and top with wonderfully carved and pierced supports. The whole standing on turned feet with sunken castors. Superb condition and colour with working locks & keys. Delivery to most of U.K. mainland. Dimensions :- Height Open...42’’/ 107cm.
