    About this item

A stunning pair of mid 20th Century South Sea cultured pearl and diamond earrings. The earrings each have a stylised ribbon and floral design top set with baguette, brilliant and single-cut diamonds suspending a detachable drop with diamond-set double leaf motifs, with brilliant-cut diamonds between and terminating in a diamond-set trefoil cap holding a south sea cultured pearl. This type of ear pendants is often referred to as night and day earrings/pendants as the drop section can easily be removed allowing the top section to be worn alone for less formal occasions. With post and clip fittings. Full drop 5cm, top section only drop 2.5cm, pearls approximately 11.49mm by 13.53mm and 13.75cm.

Condition. The earrings are in good condition, they are not marked but test as rhodium over white gold. The diamonds are bright and well matched and the pearls have good surfaces with very slight ringing around the top and minimal pits visible only on the reverse. They have a lovely bright lustre. The sizes are given as approximately as the nature of the settings mean the second measurement for each pearl is an approximate reading. The settings are good and secure. A stunning pair of wearable earrings.
