This is an antique elbow chair. An English, walnut carver in the Georgian Chippendale revival taste, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
Wonderful revival carver set to grace any room Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Select walnut stocks with fine grain interest and craftsmanship Deep caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish Plume of Feathers carving adorns the cresting rail, with scrolled detail to ears Leading into a grand, pierced ribbon back splat with quarterfoil fretwork Sinuous arms host wonderful grain and tonality Each arm raised upon a striking, serpentine support Quality, later needlepoint foliate upholstery in good order Drop-in seat cushion at a comfortable height of 47cm (18.5") Can be easily reupholstered to individual taste Raised upon reeded square section front legs, a gently splayed pair to the rearThis is a fantastic antique elbow chair in the manner of Chippendale at the beginning of the Victorian revival period for Georgian tastes. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
