This is a set of 4 antique Chippendale revival chairs. An English, mahogany elbow or armchair, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
An exquisite and unusual set of four carvers with wonderful Chippendale taste. Displaying a desirable aged patina and in very good order. Select stocks show fine grain interest with warm caramel hues. Benefits from a quality, professional reupholstering in tasteful foliate patterned fabric.
Enthusiastically carved throughout, the lyre back and top rail a treat of leaf detail. Serpentine arms terminate in scrolled knuckles, adorned skilfully with oak leaves. S-curve arm supports with further leaf motif and decorative fluting.
Broad leaf knees surround a sash shaped front apron. Distinctive cabriole front legs enhanced with superb ball and claw feet. Gently splayed pad feet to rear, cascading gently from the back rest.
This is an attractive set of 4 antique 'Chippendale revival' chairs, with exceptional taste and quality. A rare occurrence as a set of four carvers, this suite would enhance any room. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
