This is an antique dressing room armchair. An English, gilt finished elbow chair with silk cotton upholstery, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
Superb elegance, with a wonderful upholstery and gilt finish Displays a desirable aged patina throughout, some light wear to textiles Striking frame presents great contrast between the ebonised and gilt finish Traditionally stuffed with a later, professional reupholstering Distinctive cameo back rest, the cresting rail adorned with a prominent scrolled motif Delightful beading accentuates the outer edge, framing the cushioned back Presented in light mint green, the silk cotton shimmers delicately in the light Ornate embroidered pattern detail in an appealing, muted gold thread Prominent arms host padded elbow rests in matching fabric Golden brocade trim to the outer edges complements the upholstery Canted knees with relief foliate detail, the lower apron with a repeat scroll moulding Raised upon a quartet of tapering legs, gadrooned and reeded over circular feetThis is a fascinating antique dressing room chair, with a bold, expressive appearance and a pleasing, lightly aged appearance.
