About this item
This interesting Victorian Staffordshire Figure depicts Prince Alfred, second son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, dressed as a Sailor. It dates from circa 1860.
Prince Alfred joined the Royal Navy, aged 12, in 1856 and this Figure probably commemorates that event. It is suggested it was made at the Thomas Parr Factory.
One anchor hook is missing and there are some minor grazes. There is no restoration.
