About this item
A reclaimed antique fire back. The fire back has a decorative design with an arched top with Tudor roses and a design with fruit and leaves. The main body of the fire back has a traditional period crest design with a shield, crown, lion and unicorn. There is some Latin around the top of the design. The cast iron has been blacked and polished. The fire back is in good solid condition with some signs of its age, as expected. The iron has some deep casting marks and indentations and there is some pitting and some small patches of surface rust. There are some small knocks and the back has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire back has a lovely appearance and could be paired with a fire basket or used on its own for decorative purposes within a hearth.
