FB0112 A RECLAIMED CAST IRON SWANS NEST FIRE BASKET & FIRE DOGS

A large, reclaimed, cast iron swans nest fire basket with fire dogs. The basket is of a good size and has traditional style spikes on the front and sides. The basket has a "swans nest" dip in the centre for logs. The basket is paired with very nice traditional style fire dogs with U shaped feet and finials at the top. The fire dogs each have a hanging hook on the front. The back feet of the fire dogs have been cut down in size and therefore the fire basket slopes back when set on to the fire dogs. You could raise the back of the fire dogs by resting them on tiles or you could place the front feet in front of the hearth step to level the fire dogs out. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour. The basket is reclaimed and therefore has some signs of use and wear. The cast iron has some casting marks and lines and some pitting. One fire dog has a small hole at the top of the U shape foot. Please see pictures for condition details. The basket has a lovely period look that would suit a cottage or period property.
