FB0113 A RECLAIMED TRADITIONAL STYLE CAST IRON FIRE BASKET & FIRE DOGS

A reclaimed, traditional style, cast iron fire basket with decorative fire dogs. The basket is of a petite size and has forked finials at the front. The sides and back of the basket have cast iron rails to hold in logs or coal. The basket is paired with very nice decorative fire dogs with U shaped feet. The fire dogs have a lovely barley twist design and scrolled finials. The back of the fire dogs have tab detailing ensuring the fire basket does not easily slip backwards. The fire basket has four brackets so it can be hooked over the fire dogs. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a rich colour. The basket is reclaimed and therefore has some signs of use and wear. The cast iron has some casting marks and some pitting. The back middle fire basket rail has sustained some breaks and has been welded. The repairs are solid but can be seen in places. Please see pictures for condition details. The basket has a lovely period look that would suit a cottage or period property.
