About this item
Fantastic rustic 17th century Spanish console or side table. With large near five inch thick slab top said to be salvaged from the wreckage of one of the fleeing Armada ships that floundered along the wild Atlantic west coast centuries ago. A huge statement piece for the decorative home.
Condition commensurate with age and use. Various restoration work carried out down the years to the strechers, drawers and top. Evidence of an ancient woodworm attack centring around the slab top as expected for a piece of this age.
Provenance: Formerly of Annaly Lodge (hunting lodge of 1st Baron Annaly 1791-1873) Co.Clare . This piece was bought by the previous owners as part of the purchase of Annaly Lodge some 30 years previous. The table is thought to have been moved here when the lodge was constructed new in 1860.
