    About this item

An unusual French whimsey bottle, dating to 1952.

Whimsey Bottles are a fascinating form of folk art or tramp art, where a figure or diorama is created inside a bottle. The most common of these are ships in bottles, but this one is a bit more unusual. The model is made out of carved and jointed wood and is in the form of a man returning from a day's hunting with his two dogs, holding a shotgun in one hand and a rabbit in the other. The bottom of the model is marked with the date 14/9/52.
