About this item
Superb counter made circa 1810 for Henry Dundas 1st. Viscount Melville. Large size in wavy-edge style and vine-and-moth border - this was not an off-the-peg order from Canton. Crest, coronet of a Viscount, arms, supporters and motto with a superb full scene to the reverse. Dundas had two sets made at around the same time - as happened on occasions for the very rich - this one for his main residence and another for a secondary home with less armorial detail. Please note the extra-large size.
