    About this item

A rare group of eight matching round counters with four matching demi-lune counters. They all have the Canton inscribed monogram E with fine backhatching and a geometric border dating them all to around 1810. Very good quality, bright m-o-p, The round counters all have well-drawn character scenes to the reverse; the demi-lunes have flowers. The demi-lune shape is very rare and when two are placed side-by-side they match the shape and size of the round counters exactly which suggests that they may have originally been designed as a set of twelve to go into a circular box. A very rare group.
