About this item
Matched pair of early gaming counters made circa 1730 for TOWER of WEALD HALL, ESSEX. It was usual at this time for sets of counters to contain two shapes only - the round and fish. The round counter gained some notoriety when it is reported that it was worn on a pendant by one of the early female Poker world champions - who had the motto LOVE tattooed on the knuckles of one hand and DREAD on the other.
