Superb armorial with deep-carved decoration in a very unusual style - with no roundel at all. Counter with full heraldic detail - including the very unusual addition of a wild man in chains beneath the arms - for ROBERTSON. This special heraldic detail was added when Robertson caught the murderer of James I of Scotland. Made circa 1840 to special order.
