A beautifully controlled, hand-blown glass centrepiece bowl in contrasting and complimentary colours of cobalt blue and pale pink, blushing to rose pink towards the rim. Engraved signature "Wilke. A. 85" to the pontil mark.
Wilke Adolfsson was born in the Swedish village of Orrefors, synonymous with the famous glassworks which was based there. He started blowing glass at the Gullaskruf glassworks in the 1950's. He was master at the Orrefors Glassworks from 1963-78. In 1979 he established 'Studio Stenhytta' with the German glassmaker Ann Wolff (b.1937) at Tranjö in Sweden. In 1983 he started his own studio 'Wilkes Studioglas' back in Orrefors, designing and blowing everything himself.
