About this item
Exceptional Art Nouveau Emile Galle Cameo 'blue mountain' landscape vase, in the classic shape of an eye bath topped moon flask. The vase is very dark purple (looking black) over dark blue over opal orange. It depicts finely detailed dark trees against a dark and brooding blue mountain range with four main peaks and a small river scene -Landscape cameos were first introduced just after Emile Galle's death and the finest and most dramatic are the blue mountains.
It is signed raised in cameo -see pic 2 (the signature is Provost Mk V -see chart in final image -this signature dates the vase to 1920-24)
Emile Galle was probably the greatest glass maker of all time and one of the founding father's of the Art Nouveau movement.
