About this item
A Holmegaard Carnaby series vase designed by Per Lütken together with Christer Holmgren. The Carnaby series commenced in 1968 and the run only lasted to 1976. All mouthblown into moulds, these were never mass produced, which adds to their scarcity.
The Carnaby series has become an icon of design of the 1960s due to bold shapes and bright opaque colours in cased glass, this red colour with a strong white opaline centre were synonymous with the Holmegaard brand, highly collectable, and for good reason. Other colours, white, yellow, and light blue/white were also made.
Danish glass making at its best.
Per Lütken 1916 – 1998, made his mark in Danish glass making history, as Chief designer, designing more than 3000 pieces for Holmegaard.
Swedish born Christer Holmgren worked as a glass designer between 1957 and 1970 and is best known for his contribution to the Carnaby series in 1968.
