About this item
A rare etched cordial glass commemorating the Durham Miners' Strike of 1892. The strike was called following a proposed reduction in miners' wages. It lasted from March to June 1892 and ended when, due to extreme hardship, the miners felt compelled to return to work and accept the cut in their pay.
The front of this humble little glass is simply etched with "Durham Miners Strike 1892"; to the rear is a leaf sprig. It is in excellent condition.
