18th century Italian mirror with sectioned glass
Large, 18th century Italian mirror with carved wood frame, finished in dark chestnut brown gesso with hints of silver and gold leaf remaining. Carved flowers and leaves form a curving inner frame across the upper corners with a central, fanned, acanthus leaf standing above the top. The original glass is sectioned with consistant age running through each section, which are held in place with small metal crossed pins. Purchased from Aste Bolaffi Auction House in Turin, Italy and licenced for export.
