    About this item

    "Isis Ceramics" (Deborah Sears)
    Hand-potted baluster jug
Tin glazed earthenware with hand-painted decoration
    Oxford, England
    Dated 1989

    Measures:-
21 cm high x 10 cm diameter (at the neck) (14.5 cm at belly (approx.))

A distinctive "Isis Ceramics" (Deborah Sears) tin glazed earthenware jug. Fully marked to the base with a firing date of "11.89". Isis Ceramics was founded by Deborah Sears in 1988 and this early baluster shaped jug, emulating early English Chinoiserie inspired Delftware, is in an unusual and discontinued pattern. There are a number of particularly charming details, with an insect on the inner lip of the spout, insects to the handle and patterned base.

    Fully marked to the bottom.

Good perfect condition, feint craquelure to the sides and within the jug. A minor glaze fail and an inoffensive and easily fixed 8mm chip to the footrim.
