About this item
Very stylish and fine quality silver cream jug of plain round bellied form with double scroll handle and lovely shaped raised spout with cast fluted detail and edged with scrolls to shape the rim. The circular foot and jug rim are trimmed with a fine beaded border and the inside is gilded. On one side is an attractive armorial of a goat's head over a coronet.
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1890, maker Martin, Hall & Co. (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall).
It measures 12.5cm (5") high, 10cm (4") spout to handle and 7.5cm (3") wide. It weighs 199g/6.4ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage or repairs. There is just one tiny pin-prick ding to the right of the lower terminal of the handle; surface wear is light, there is just a little rubbing to the edge of the hallmarks. I apologise for the reflections in the photographs which are unavoidable with pieces of this shape I'm afraid.
