About this item
This pottery tea canister is decorated with very detailed applied sprigs of fruit, flowers, leaves and butterflies. It is capped with a screw on pewter lid which has a very delicate diaper pattern to the shoulder. There is a ring of flowers to the shoulder of the canister, and a ring of beads to the foot. The piece stands 167 mm, (6.5 inches) high, and has a diameter of 97 mm, (3.75 inches). Apart from some faint crazing and a 4 mm split to the lid, it is in very good condition. There are no makers marks on the body and no touch marks on the pewter. Possibly Dutch, it dates from around 1790.
