    About this item

    LITHOGRAPHED BISCUIT BOX

    FAIRY TALES

    Damoiseau ~ c. 1930

This wonderful vintage biscuit tin has a hinged lid, fits and works perfectly, and dates to the 1930's. Jean de la Fontaine's images. Measuring 7 " long x 4 7/8 " wide x 3 1/4 " tall. The tin once contained cookies or biscuits made by the Damoiseau company in France. It is decorated with images of dressed animals. Each image tells the story from one of Fontaine's Fables (the French version of Aesop's Fables.) Like all great vintage and antique tin litho, this biscuit tin stands out because of the mellow rich colors and the naive and amusing illustrations.

Great condition with minor wear and foxing rust as seen in photos.
