About this item
This is an English mill cutting table from the 1930/40s. It is solid pine and has a worktop height table top with a lower shelf/tier under. The table was used in a mill for cutting and storing fabrics. The rolls would be stored underneath and the fabric rolled out to be measured and cut above. This one has been stripped clean and given some additional reinforcement to make it extra sturdy but in essence looks exactly as it would have done in its working life - except cleaner. It stands at worktop height - full measurements at the end of the description - making it ideal as a kitchen island or workspace. The undershelf is great for baskets, storage or decorative items.
This table would be ideal for retail display. Please note I have two of these available if required plus another of the same age/size but without the under tier.
The work table/island is in great condition, when it arrived it looked a bit sad, it had hardboard stuck on one end, was really dirty and wobbled a bit. Now it has lovely open ends, a gorgeous clean and smooth grain and is as steady as a rock thanks to some extra reinforcement. With normal use age it will last another lifetime.
This piece measures 183cm long x 90cm deep. It stands at 91cm tall.
Please bear in mind that this is taller than a normal table and is 3’ wide x 6’ long. If you are tempted to buy - and please don’t let me put you off, it is gorgeous - please measure your access doors and passages. It is about the same width as most tables but the height makes it boxy and tricky to be maneovered around corners and down narrow hallways. Please measure your door ways to ensure you have the space to actually get it to where it will live. Nice wide doors are good, ours are quite mean and narrow. It isn’t overly heavy, just not skinny.
