    About this item

    A silver plated hatelet skewer with a stylised acanthus leaf to the end. This type of skewer was used for ornamenting meat, fish and also desserts, when taking the food to the table. Examples of them in use can be seen in the image. This is from a cookery book "La Cuisine Classique" printed in 1876. This skewer is unmarked and it dates from c.1880. It is in very good condition.
    Dimensions:    Length 19.4cm. (7 5/8in). The end is 2cm. (3/4in) across.
