Late 18thc / early 19thc turned fruitwood turned mortar....it stands on a wide pedestal base and is of an imposing size with raised ring turn decoration, there is even some very fine incised ring decoration to the top edge of the mortar....excellent colour that you find with fruitwood and in very good condition.
