About this item
A super quality, Victorian bread knife with a carved boxwood handle. The steel blade is engraved with the makers mark “F W D SHEFFIELD.” The handle is very deeply carved with a stylised wheat design and tiny, radiating suns. It is quite unusual to find boxwood used for the handles of bread knives and this example dates from c.1880. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Length 33cm. Diameter of handle 3.2cm. Width of blade 3.4cm.
