    About this item

    An early 19th century, blue transfer printed, pearlware, butter dish, cover and stand. Each part is printed with a version of the willow pattern and the lid has a well moulded finial, in the shape of a lion, which is coloured in a blue glaze. The base is marked “FELL NEWCASTLE” and the dish is just marked “FELL”. Thomas Fell potted at St. Peter’s Pottery, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland from 1817 until 1890. These marks were used between 1817 and 1830 and this piece would date from c.1820. 

    Condition: Base: Very feint, short, hairline crack. Dish: Small chips to underside. Lid: One small glaze flake to underside.

    Dimensions when thee three parts are together: Length 18.7cm. Width 15.2cm. Height 10.5cm.
