    About this item

This is a set of antique metamorphic library steps. An English, oak folding chair, dating to the late Georgian period, circa 1820.

Fascinate guests with this attractive example of meubles à surprises - or surprise furniture. Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order. Quality oak stocks show fine grain interest and an abundance of medullary rays. Striking caramel hues beam beneath a quality wax polish finish.

A fine addition to the home library - elevate yourself to reach your favourite book. Lifting the top step, the turned upper section rotates into place as a charming seat. Once folded, the top step section rests securely against the lower step base. Turned spindles present a distinctive back rest, with similar spindle front legs on a cylindrical foot.

This is a captivating set of antique metamorphic library steps, rotating smoothly into a fascinating reading chair. Perfect for the home library or reading nook, this versatile piece will delight guests. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
