Antique George 1V Partners Library Table or Writing Desk: circa 1830

This George IV mahogany library table was made from well figured timbers and in a style associated with Gillows

the highly regarded cabinet makers of the period.

Tables of this size and type have become rare.

It has recently been traditionally restored including french polishing and waxing.

The writing surface has been fitted a replacement black hide with gilt and blind tooling.

This is surrounded by a cross-band of figured mahogany with a squared edge and rounded corners.

The frieze is fitted 3 cockbeaded drawers to both sides with original brass locks and ebonized knobs.

There is a slight pattern variation to the knobs on either side.

The table stands on 4 well turned and reeded, tapering legs and has the original brass cup castors.

The desk is in excellent antique condition and would suit a large traditional office or library.
