Antique Victorian Silver Plated Adjustable Telescopic Standard Lamp 19th C

This is a elegant antique Victorian silver-plated telescopic standard lamp now converted to electricity, late 19th Century in date.

The lamp features a cylindrical shaft which can adjust the height of the lamp. It features a doric column above a striking tapering and slender shaft and it stands on a large and weighted circular base.

The Doric order is the earliest of the three Classical orders of architecture and represents an important moment in Mediterranean architecture when monumental construction made the transition from impermanent materialslike woodto permanent materials, namely stone.
