12s 21 Jewel Illinois SANTE FE Special pocket watch c1928

This is an unusual variant of the Sante Fe model made by the Illinois Watch Company. 

Although this is a good quality watch, it is not a Railroad grade due to the smaller size, 12 size instead of the usual 16 size

Movement – the high quality, grade 279, nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement is signed “Sante Fe Special, Illinois Watch Co, Springfield, 21 Jewels, Adjusted to Temperature and positions” 5073909. The movement is decorated with damascening and is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a square shaped 14K white gold filled open face case, which has a snap off back and bezel. The case is signed “Sante Fe Watch Co”. The case is decorated on the back with a engine turning and a vacant crest and has ornately chased edges also. The case is in 90% mint condition – two soft bruises on the back and light wear.

Dial – the superb white enamel dial has continuous minute marks and a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Sante Fe Special, Illinois” and is in 95% mint condition – a short hairline on the 11 and 4 and 5
