16s 21J Elgin BW Raymond Railroad grade pocket watch c1926

This is a classic rail road grade pocket watch by the Elgin watch company.

Movement - this is a model 15 ¾ plate nickel movement with a lever escapement and a micrometer regulator. The movement has gold jewel settings and gold train wheels. The movement is decorated with slanted striped bar damascening. The movement is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, BW Raymond, 21 Jewels, Adjusted 5 positions” # 28829701. The movement is in 80% mint condition – the winding wheels has dark marks, there is a crude hand scratched serial number on the plate and the tail of the whiplash is missing.

Case – the movement comes in a 12K gold filled open face case, which has a screw off back and bezel. The case has beaded sides and a smooth plain finish on the back. The case is in 95% mint condition – a good clean case

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Elgin”. The dial is in 85% mint condition – hairline from the 1-2 to the centre and a curved hairline on the 11.
