About this item
This is an American Grade A railroad grade pocket watch made by Elgin Watch Co.
Movement – the top quality nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and has gold train wheels and gold jewel settings. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, Father Time, 21 Jewels, Adjusted 5 positions” # 21999765. The movement is in 95% mint condition – light scratches
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated case by Wandsworth which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The case is decorated on the back with Masonic imagery in high relief of a Sun and set square and compass. These are finely detailed with engraving and have blue enamel highlights with green gold leaves also in high relief. The case then has a blue enamel border with “Wm Scales, From his Masonic brethren Ottawa Ill, 1919”. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – some light wear externally but a scratch on the inner cover
Dial – the white enamel double sunk dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Elgin”. The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 50mm wide x 14mm deep
The watch is stem wound / lever set
